This post is part of Mashable's Spring Cleaning Week. Just a little something to distract you from the eternal dread of constantly wiping all those fingerprints off your screen.
It's really easy for your Spotify account to become one helluva cluster.
Sometimes you're really feeling particularly rowdy and you need to bump the latest stylings of Cardi B while hitting the milly rock during your mid-morning commute. Sometimes you need to turn your grocery run into an adventure by moonwalking down an aisle while listening to Bruno Mars. Sometimes, you really just need to ugly cry into your palms while listening to a Jessie Reyez and Daniel Caesar collaboration.
Sometimes, you just want to listen to bad music.
Organize Spotify Playlists Alphabetically
All that being so, it's real easy for your Spotify account to become a minefield of erroneous playlists, haphazardly added local files and poorly organized libraries. All of which don't really go together and eventually build up to such a mess that it's way too daunting to try and fix.
But don't fret (HAH, see what I did there), there are actually a handful of really easy ways to fix things up. Here are a few, simple ways to clean up your Spotify account to make it a more wholesome, seamless listening experience.
Have a 'pocket' playlist
Make sure to always have a playlist in which you can save songs you think you'll want to listen to later, but aren't entirely familiar with — in other words, a 'pocket' playlist. A playlist like this is perfect for all of you out there who love to listen to radio mixes or Spotify's curated playlists. It'll give you a space to test and listen to new music, which you can then move to your more established playlists once you realize that that one song you heard while walking through Starbucks is indeed a banger.
Get collaborative
Open playlists can actually work really well in a similar way if you have a friend who has a similar taste in music. Click on the playlist you'd like to make collaborative, hit the three dot icon and click 'Collaborative Playlist.' Then, share it with a friend and encourage them to find and share good music on it. If you like it, take it and move it onto one of your personal playlists. If not, delete it. Encourage your friend to do the same.
Playlist groups
Have a ton of playlists? Tired of scrolling through them all? Cut that number down by creating Playlist Folders. Go to File then hit New Playlist Folder. Spotify download idividual songs. That way you can throw similar types of playlists together, whether it be a group of gym playlists or party playlists. You can even nest folders by creating a folder within another folder.
Sort and filter
If you've got a very large playlist, or if you're sifting through your own library, make sure that you're making use of Spotify's sort and filter tools. To sort, hit the carrot next to the Artist or Album tabs to list each of those categories in alphabetical or reverse alphabetical order. Hit the Calendar icon at the end to sort songs by date added. If you want your songs to go back to the original order they were in just keep clicking the carrot until it goes away.
If you want a bit more control in finding songs within a playlist or your library, you can filter through all of them by using the search bar just above your playlist. Just type in what you're looking for and it'll turn up all things related to that term.
Use that queue
Instead of creating new playlists with just three or four songs that you're into at that point in time, use Spotify's Add to Queue feature. You can't loop the tracks on there like it were a playlist, but if you're looking to listen to a few songs in a row, as opposed to say, a whole album, add them to your queue to keep the clutter off your playlists.
Create a local files folder
Every so often you may notice ridiculous, random files you have saved on your computer popping up in your searches as local files. That's because Spotify automatically uploads any .mp3 or .m4p files on your computer's My Music, Downloads, and iTunes folders into your library. To clean it up, sift through your hard drive for all the music you want to be on Spotify and put it in one folder. Then in the Settings menu, hit the Add A Source button under the Local Files menu, and navigate to that folder. Flip off all other sources, and your library should be cleared up.
Stop the gap
If you want to listen to all your music *efficiently* — that is without any time inserted in between tracks — go back into your Settings tab, scroll down, and hit Show Advanced Settings. Under Playback, turn on Crossfade Songs. You can keep the mixing time at the default (5 seconds) if you want to make it feel like a party mix, but you can also set it to 0 to make it so that songs play seamlessly right after one another.
Spotify, these days has become the first choice of music lovers among all the music streaming apps to listen to their favorite music. With millions of songs available to stream and download, spanning across hundreds of genres, artists, countries, and languages, Spotify can help you create the best music library of your preference.
But, forming a music library is one thing; keeping it organized is another. I, for one, am a terrible organizer in this case. Spotify app wont stay open. I have like more than 500 songs in my Spotify My Music, and all I do is Play All and keep skipping songs to get to my preferred one. However, if your library is organized, you can keep a neat database of your favorite songs, which are easy to locate, retrieve, and listen to without skipping through fifty songs before you get to it.
Here’s how to keep your music library organized in Spotify music streaming service:
How to Organize Spotify Library
Organizing a Spotify library can be a tough task. Since now there’s no limit of songs you can save in your library, the whole process becomes a bit complicated. Since users find their favorite songs searching through multiple playlists, artists list, albums, and single tracks, you must streamline the Spotify library.
1. Saving Songs and Albums
You can save your music by either saving single tracks or the entire albums.
- To Save a Song:
Spotify premium apk crack. Saving a song is one of the easiest ways to have an organized library filtered by your favorite songs on your Spotify account. To save a song on Spotify, click the “Heart” button adjacent to the left of the Title of the Track in any playlist. The Heart button acts like a Like Song button. The song is then added to your library into an automatically created playlist called “Liked Songs”. This creates an organized list of your recent favorites.
Any way to make the spotify app smaller. You can also right-click on a song and then click on Save to your Liked Songs to save a song in your Spotify Music Library.
- To Save an Albums:
In case, you find an entire album great enough to listen to on loop; you can go ahead and save an entire album. Just like I did with Linkin Park’s 2012 album Living Things. All you need to do is click on another “Heart” button. But not the one adjacent to the track. On the album page, you’ll find the album name along with a Heart button near it. Once you click on it, the album will be saved.
And this won’t save the songs in the Liked Songs playlist. You can access the liked album in the Albums section on Spotify.

2. Following Artists
Following artists is another method of having an organized music library. Several artists are always on your favorite lists no matter what song they release and no matter what is the general public and critic reaction. You can either find your favorite artists via the Search menu, or you can find them in the Artists section in the Spotify app or website. You can also head to Go to Artists tab after a right-click over any song.
Once on your preferred Artists page, click on the Follow page and that particular button will change to Following. This will add the following artist at the top of the Artists section of your Spotify account. Through that, you can access any song of that particular artist and then can also add some individual songs to the Liked Songs playlist.
Having a Spotify Premium account can also let you download the songs of that artist.

3. Create Playlists and Create Folders
Now here is the part of getting self-creative and self-organized. Spotify allows users to make their playlists and organize the music library cluttered with more than a hundred songs on your Spotify account. You can then create folders to make up a more organized music library.
- To Create a Playlist:
To create a playlist, right-click on a song and then click on Add to Playlist. Give your playlist a name and then keep on adding songs related to it to organize one kind or genre of music in an organized manner.
You can also create a playlist from the left-side pane of the Spotify account on the web. There you’ll find an option to Create Playlist. You can then add songs to that created playlist according to whatever name you’ve given to it. I, for one, prefer creating playlists via Artists’ name to keep all songs organized per my favorite artists.
- To Create Folders:
Folders are sub-playlists that you can create to organize your playlists further. For example, you have created a playlist by your artist’s name. Now, you can further create folders to divide the songs inside it in different folders sorted by the album names, new/old songs, remixes, and artist collaborations.
This way, you can create a more organized music library with playlists and folders keeping all tracks in different ones to help you retrieve them quickly and even share them properly and even get your followers by making your well-organized playlists collaborative.

4. Temporary Playlist
Spotify Organize Playlist
It’s just forming a rotation playlist where you can temporarily add favorite songs as you discover new music on Spotify. You can then add these newly added songs to their specified playlist per the genre, album, or artist.
Spotify has one of the biggest online music libraries accessible for free. And it can be pretty messy when you organize it. Using these methods, you can always keep your favorite songs and even the newly discovered gems in such a way that they are easily retrievable and you don’t have to rely on long shuffles before you get there.
